13 years ago I was working in a corporate job for a Fortune 100 company just outside of Chicago (think hamburgers.) I was pregnant with my first son and already dreading the thought of putting him into daycare 10-12 hours every day. In fact, the thought made me really sick. I couldn’t imagine doing it, so I set off to working on finding an alternative.
This was in 2002 and I had just purchased my first computer. Ever. It was a Dell and I couldn’t WAIT to get my hands on it. Within the first couple of months I had discovered a company online called Gal Friday. The owner was something called a “Virtual Assistant.” I was intrigued and immediately hooked.
I started researching everything I could about this virtual assistance thing. I made a list of all the things I could do for someone as a VA (the list was actually really long!) I took that list and created my first brochure. By creating that brochure I also started learning about marketing about how to get the word out about my business.
I actually took those flyers by foot and started passing them out to local businesses. I was Blessed to start manifesting people in my life who would turn out to be mentors and teachers and I became what I have always been meant to be – and entrepreneur.
I joined networking groups and started building my website. By 2004 I was a full-fledged business owner. I even had the business cards to prove it! 😉
As a general VA I helped with all aspects of supporting a business, but was always attracted to the marketing side of things. As social media began picking up speed and taking off, I took every course I could find about LinkedIn and Facebook. Then Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest. I watched and learned as online brands went from several hundred fans to several hundred thousand. It was fascinating. In 2010 while I was pregnant with my second son, I had my first major shift in business and started working exclusively with online businesses.
Initially I worked with technology start-ups on their sales and marketing. As much fun as that was 😉 I fell in love with coaching and nutrition. So much so that in 2012 I completed training with Robbins-Madanes Center for Strategic Intervention as well as obtained a Nutrition and Life Coaching certification from the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts.
These two experiences led me to begin work exclusively with healers, coaches, trainers, speakers and authors.
My experience and subsequent training has helped shape who I am now as your online business strategist and the leader of an incredible virtual business management team. I know a thing or two about being a coach and a bunch more about running a successful 6- and 7-figure online business.
